The Elms Resort & Spa in Excelsior Springs has been purchased by Widewaters Group Inc. and is scheduled for extensive renovation.

Widewaters is a real estate development and management company based in Syracuse, N.Y. Formerly owned by Realty Financial Partners, the resort and spa has 153 guest rooms, 10,000 square feet of spa space, 11,000 square feet of meeting space, a restaurant, two lounges and 16 acres of land.

In a release, Widewaters COO Robert Arigo said, “We look forward to working with the Excelsior Springs community to ensure the renovations to this historic property are successful. This purchase was made possible because of the hard work of city council members, past and present, as well as the support of their staff and their consultants, and we are grateful for their commitment and contributions.”

The Widewaters Group owns and operates 18 hotel properties in the United States and Canada. Plans for the 100,000 s.f. resort and spa include a “world-class transformation” of the spa and restaurant.

The historic Elms currently employs about 100 people.
