Joint Luncheon Set for Sept. 20
The Annual Joint Luncheon of the Clay County Economic Development Council, the Platte County EDC and the Northland Regional Chamber of Commerce will be held Tuesday, Sept. 20. Briarcliff to Add Retirement Village The Briarcliff development has announced the addition of a retirement community to its list of offerings. The 170-unit development will include both independent- and assisted-living apartments. McCrite Plaza Retirement, a Topeka-based senior-care center company, will operate the $19-million, 170-unit retirement community. Groundbreaking is planned for this fall on the 200,000-square-foot senior-care facility south of Missouri Highway 9 and Briarcliff Parkway The one- and two-bedroom apartments will range from 750 to 1,250 square feet. Nixon Cites Clay County Company for International Business Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon visited Continental Disc Corp. in Liberty Aug. 25 to push his Made in Missouri Jobs Package, the subject of a special legislative session. Scheduled to begin Sept. 6, the special session will include a focus on promoting the state’s strong export economy.
