Magnificent Opportunities for International Business
This region offers unprecedented opportunity in the areas of international trade and business.
Located almost precisely at the crossroads of the nation, the Clay County area holds the some of the nation's most strategic interstate highway intersections. The “NAFTA Superhighway” I-35, passes through Clay County while linking Canada, the United States and Mexico. I-29 also connects to Canada while nearby I-70 is one of the nation's most important east-west roadways.
Metropolitan Kansas City is the second largest rail center in the nation (first when measured by tonnage). The area has more Free Trade Zones than any other U.S. location, and more underground storage than any location in the world.
International air options are enormous. Efficient Kansas City International Airport recently underwent some $80 million in improvements, and is targeting additional air cargo and business development options. The Kansas City Downtown Airport (located in Clay County) is the region’s busiest executive jet facility, with business leaders traveling worldwide from this recently upgraded facility.
Even for telecommunications and other high-tech firms, the area’s time zone and advantages are significant.
The Clay County EDC established the International Business Group to promote these opportunities and facilitate access to related services. These links at right will be expanded as this work proceeds. You may also contact the EDC office at (816) 468-4989 or info@clayedc.com for more information.
