Civic and Legislative Affairs

The Legislative Affairs Committee is the EDC's front-line investigative, liaison and action committee for ballot issues and other important initiatives involving national, state and local issues.

The committee meets regularly with legislators, including both state and national leaders, to discuss recent and upcoming issues that impact Clay County. This communication includes presentation of information of interest to local businesses and residents.

Recent Efforts
The committee has worked with the EDC's affiliate organization, the Northland Redevelopment Partners, to communicate the importance of federal funds supporting key projects, including three that were recently funded. The Civic and Legislative Affairs Committee also examined major area bond initiatives prior to their placement before voters.

Other important Committee efforts focus on projects related to other EDC committees and affiliated organizations:
Missouri Tax Increment Financing (TIF) legislation, local school district bonds and levies and city impact fees.
