.Population growth in Clay County has increased the need for service providers and retail stores. Clay County continues to enjoy a strong manufacturing, transportation and distribution base, with significant new growth in the services sector.

LABOR AVAILABILITY

• There is an available labor pool in the Kansas City Northland labor basin of 321,670. There are over 31,455 workers (10%) who are actively seeking new employment opportunities and 115,215 (36%) who would consider new employment for the right opportunity.


• 69% of the available labor pool have at least some college education. A total of 95% have at least a high school diploma.

• 35%, or an estimated 52,040 workers in the available labor pool are underemployed.

• 35,640 of the available labor pool would be interested in an employment opportunity with a wage of $10.00 an hour. At $12.00 an hour, 46,190 be interested, while at $8.00 an hour, 12,990 people in the available labor would be interested.
